Summer Wine Teams

As the title suggests, this particular irregular fun event was inspired by a cat-fight between yours truly and mschwartl, cheered by a crowd of friendly specs, over the Summer Wine remake with Natalia Avelon and Ville Valo. The only sensible, creative and peaceful (sort of...) way out seemed to be to channel the antagonism into a teams event. We haven't been able to schedule it yet as a regular event since the gang is scattered all over the world, so we have new BBOers joining all the time. There is no fixed format (boards varied from 8 to 24), no fixed teams (we pick different wine names each session) and there is no fixed level required for willing participants. A good sense of humour is certainly an asset!

BIL Tournaments

BIL runs regularly scheduled events mostly catering for players, as the name suggests, at the beginner/intermediate level. You can read more about the tournaments here.

A quick and convenient way to check when the different kinds of tournaments (along with all other events in BIL's boisterous life) are scheduled is the Calendar. There is even an option to adjust the schedule so that it displays your local time (great for time-zone-challenged people like me!). The Tournaments for Fun are colour-coded blue, and the Pay For Tournaments are colour-coded cream. There are both indy and pairs events, scattered throughout different time-zones.

General information about the BIL Club, in case you are not a member yet, can be found on the club website.

Ind Tourney BBO Beginner

Organised daily (when the internet gods permit that!) by Gamer1800. In his own words:
I play for fun, I am not interested in "masterpoints/championships/STARS/blha blah...." and I think that is how any card game (except gambling with real money) should be played.

Unfortunately, I am in minority. As Alan Truscott has said "Bridge is essentially a social game, but unfortunately it attracts a substantial number of antisocial people".

Beginner BBO is my humble effort to make bridge a social and enjoyable event, and encourage our Beginner friends.

You can post any comments and suggestions here, and we will get back to you as soon as possible - thank you! :)

What? Where? Who?

.... by way of introduction...
The main blog (BBO Fun Club) is losing focus fast, and I thought it might be a good idea to collect the information specifically about playing events (tournaments, team matches etc) in a separate entity. That should also let TD's like Gamer1800 concentrate on organising and running the tournaments while this blog functions as a PR pad and news ticker (sort of). Any suggestions are welcome! :)
